Traveling to Disney With Baby
Disney does a great job catering to all ages. My daughter has visited the parks since she was two months old. My best advice is to always know your limits when traveling when little ones. Especially as a first time mom. Here’s some things to help with traveling to Disney with baby!
They’re free!
Children under 3 years old are FREE! So definitely take advantage of making memories with them at this young, FREE age. But be sure to still list them on your resort and dining reservations. This helps to keep them within their fire code capacity limits.
2. Rides and Attractions.
Over 30 rides have no height restriction which means baby can ride with you!
3. Rider Switch
And for the rides that baby can’t join you on, you don’t have to miss out! You can take advantage of rider switch. This allows adults to take turns waiting with tiny ones that aren’t able to ride. One adult can wait with the non-rider (or riders) while the rest of the party enjoys the attraction. When the other adult returns, they can supervise the non-riding Guests, and the waiting adult can board the attraction without having to wait in the regular line again!
4. Baby Care Center’s
I absolutely HATE public restrooms. I have ZERO tolerance for them. Baby Care Centers are definitely made for me. Baby Care Centers offer a place to change, nurse or feed your little one. They even have televisions and private nursing rooms. The centers are also fully stocked with items that you might have forgotten or run out of. AND they’re air-conditioned. It’s very important to make sure you’re giving yourself and baby a break from the heat! There are locations throughout all of the theme parks.
5. Bring that stroller AND carrier.
Don’t even THINK that you won’t need a stroller. You do. There is A LOT of walking at Disney. So when you’re not using the stroller, definitely consider using a baby carrier. You don’t want to unnecessarily tire yourself out from carrying a baby.
6. Give yourself time!
Traveling the parks with a baby vs. without are very different. Make sure you make time to take breaks, relax, and regroup if you have to. Pre-baby we could power through park hopping and dining reservations without going back to our resort. Yeah… no. And this is why I love staying on property so much. Staying at one of the monorail resorts becomes SO worth it on Magic Kingdom Days.
7. Consider the weather.
It’s Florida, and strange things happen. It is very common that rain, and a lot of it can appear out of nowhere. Don’t let it ruin your trip! Just be prepared. Stroller covers and ponchos are your friend.
8. Enjoy yourself!
Of course they won’t remember their trip to Disney when they were 5 months old. But who cares?! Memories are for parents too! Time waits for no one. The last two years of living in a pandemic have taught us that. Enjoy the magic with your baby!
